The work of designer/artist Danielle Aubert features many typological exercises. In this particular project, entitled “Slept In Places”, she documents where she slept (literally, her “bed”) from May 19th to November 6, 2005. You can see the timeline here.

Check out her website where you can see other interesting projects like her Yale Design MFA Thesis — a book of drawings she made in Microsoft Excel over a period of 16 months.

Looking for a stapler to add to the stapler discussion on class, I came across what could be considered a toy, but is, in fact, an electronic stapler meant for the home and office.

Following the pasta/bread discussion yesterday in class, I decided to look for the “types of pasta” posters online. They used to be common in italian restaurants and houses; and apparently pasta is so decorative that even Marian Bantjes’ new book has a whole pasta section. Here are a couple of posters:

Bread types at my local grocery store. A first row of bagels, followed by two rows of bread that is a variation of a basic oval shape. TK — do they all taste the same?
